DAILY HEALTH TIPS & DEVOTIONALS
FOCUS THIS MONTH:
When we spend time in God’s Word, we will be given the wisdom we need each day to be more like the Proverbs 31 Woman. God’s word can give us control over our emotions in a way that we can function in a positive manner every day. This will lead to proper self-care, so as we can be the best wives, moms, daughters, and women for God!

Health Tip – Listen to your body
Try to tune in to your body’s cues today in regards to hunger, fullness, rest, stress, etc. Often times, we get into auto-pilot with our health habits instead of giving our body what it truly needs. Today, take the time to wait for hunger, instead of eating just because it is “time” to eat. Most importantly – listen to your body and stop when you are satisfied! Many calories can be saved just by this one important tip.
Listening = Less calories = Weight loss!
Devotional- Peace Like a River
The Proverbs 31 Woman was a woman of peace. God tells us He gives us Peace Like a RIVER, not Peace Like a POND. A few years back, I heard a wonderful illustration about this: A pond is stagnant, doesn’t move, and usually doesn’t change from day to day. A river, on the other hand, flows and moves – changing constantly! The river gets its power and speed from the rocks in the way. Just as our lives are to have “peace like a river”, the obstacles and “rocks” in our path should give us strength and power to face our future. Peace should be present in our lives AMIDST the difficulties – God’s peace is the only way this is possible!!
Isaiah 48:18b
“May your peace be like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”
Dear Lord-
I thank you that you have given me Peace Like a River – not like a pond. I thank you for the difficulties in my life – as I know they bring me closer to you every day. I pray that I will take on your peace in all situations, and that I will rest in you alone. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Health Tip – Get rid of the Guilt
It is time to give yourself a break from the “food” guilt that you put on yourself. Whenever we are spending time focusing on our health and wellness, along comes the “dos and don’ts” list. Having healthy parameters is a good thing – but when we determine our worth on following the “rules”, it can become very unhealthy in our lives. Allow yourself room to be human, and don’t feel guilty if you eat something that is perceived to be “bad”. When we feel like we have messed up, and then we put additional guilt on ourselves – this can then lead to additional unhealthy habits – which is more unhealthy than the “mess up” in the first place. Have grace on yourself!
Less Guilt = Greater Health!
Devotional- Speak with Wisdom
The Proverbs 31 Woman was more interested in clothing herself with wisdom than with fine jewels. We need to make it our daily goal to seek Godly wisdom and in turn speak with wisdom to those in our lives. Holding our tongue in situations is often the sign of wisdom. If words are required – may we speak in a wise manner. Our words tell a lot about our character! May we have wisdom today in all things!
Proverbs 31:26
"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue"
Dear Lord-
I pray that I will seek your wisdom and speak it in my life. It is often difficult to hold my tongue in tough situations, but I pray that I will do my best today. I long to be a woman of wisdom and an example to those around me. May I be pleasing to you every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Health Tip – Drink your Water
Drinking water is one of the easiest, cheapest, and most effective health habits we can do every day. Muscles and cells NEED enough water each day to function at their best and it facilitates in the fat burning process.
Today – before every meal, drink a large glass of water - aim for at least 1/2 of your body weight in ounces daily.
Increased water = Greater Health!
Devotional- Love yourself
The Proverbs 31 Woman took time to care for herself or she wouldn’t have been able to care for those in her life so well. It appears from her daily life, that she did love herself and it showed in the way she treated others.
We are often weary of proper self-care and self-love for fear that we will become “Selfish”. However, unless we are taking time to take care of ourselves and love who we are, we can’t properly care for others. Jesus even gave the following command – meaning that we need to love ourselves!
Matthew 22:39
"Love thy neighbor, as thyself."
Dear Lord-
Sometimes it can be difficult to realize that I have to love the person you created me to be. I hear lies and things from the world that drown out the truth that you want me to hold. I pray for truth and belief that I am worth it!!
In Jesus' Name, Amen

Health Tip – Make Small Changes
A recent study showed that if you ate just 45 less calories per day, that in the period of 2 years, that counts for a loss of 9 lbs!! We don’t teach counting calories in P31 Fitness, but we do teach the law of calorie balance. It is amazing that when we will just make small changes in eating habits, the weight will come off without “dieting”. Today – try to eliminate just 100 of your “extra calories”. Here are a few examples:
Devotional – Live at Peace with others
The Proverbs 31 Woman seemed to have great relationships in her life. She went about her tasks with purpose and care as she dealt with people in her life. We don’t read of strife or difficult relationships. She couldn’t have been as “successful” as she was without having peace with others. Today, make it your goal to make peace with people in your life, knowing it is important to God!
Romans 12:18
"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
Dear Lord-
I desire peace in my heart and in my relationships. Please help me to make a conscious effort to live at peace with people in my life. I want to follow your example in this and in all things. I love you Lord and thank you for the peace only you can bring!
In Jesus' Name,
Amen

- 1% milk
instead of whole (50 calories)
- low-cal
wheat bread instead of regular (~ 40 calories)
