What does God have to do with Fitness and Nutrition?

EVERYTHING! We must take care of health by taking a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual approach. The Bible tells us that our bodies are a temple of God and treating them with respect and working towards greater health brings honor to God. See the "Rewards Journal" and "Truth Journal" in the Documents section.

Many of the “rules” we have set on ourselves are not from God. Try not to listen to diet rules and regulations from the world. You are free in Christ, but this doesn’t’ mean free to be self-indulgent and greedy. Our bodies will tell us the amount of food, exercise, and sleep that we need. All women need to listen to these cues in their bodies on the journey to greater health.

See
Weekly Scriptures for encouraging words each week.

Do I have to go on a special diet with P31 Fitness?

Diets seldom work. It is just more rules to follow. With diet rules, it is easy to set yourself up for failure. When “cheating” occurs, it is easy to go off the diet.

P31 Fitness asks that you take a new approach. Listen and Lose. Begin to listen to your body. Learn to listen to your basic hunger and fullness scale inside your body. Your body will tell you what and how much you need, if you will just begin to tune in to the hunger and fullness mechanism. Restricting yourself from certain food groups is unhealthy, and often leads to uncontrolled eating. View the nutrition section for more detilas about our nutritional philosophy.
You can also print "Daily Food Journals" in the
Documents section.

What supplements do you recommend and support in P31 Fitness?

You will not find "quick fixes" , "miracle pills" or "special diet foods" supported or endorsed by P31 Fitness.

The only supplement that we endorse and recommend, is
JUICE PLUS+. It is whole food supplementation, supported by doctors and research all around the world. The solid research is what sets Juice Plus+ apart from every other supplement on the market today.

Doctors are recommending that we need to eat
9-13 servings of fruits and vegetables every day for the prevention of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and many degenerative diseases. Not to mention for quality daily health!

However, not many people get this USDA recommendation for fruits and vegetables every day, so America has tried to "fix" this problem by taking synthetic vitamins. The problem with synthetic vitamins, is that the body doesn't know what to do with isolated vitamins. The body needs the
whole food source to process the nutrients. Juice Plus+ is exactly that. It is 17 different fruits, vegetables, and grains that have been juiced, dried and put into capsule form.

JUICE PLUS+. is the best decision you will make for you and your families' health. It helps to bridge the gap in our nutrition and gives the security of knowing quality building blocks are going into your body every day.

Free Juice Plus+ for your kids:

Juice Plus+ even offers a research program for kids ages 4-18, where they can get Juice Plus+ for free when a sponsoring adult is taking it with them. If you would like to learn more about the Children's Health study, click here.

Doctors Support Juice Plus+:

Numerous doctors are now recommending Juice Plus+ from their offices to patients every day. Read what doctors are saying on the website. (www.curtis4juiceplus.com)
MD Anderson supports Juice Plus+ and John Hopkins talks about the importance of quality nutrition in the treatment of prevention of cancer. See both of these articles in the
documents section.

How much water should I be drinking?

When you wake up in the morning, first thing, you need to drink a large glass of water (at least 12 oz). Your cells need to be re-hydrated.

Throughout the day, aim to drink at least ½ of your body weight in ounces. Your muscles and cells need water for fuel. Your body is over 70 % water. Water should be your drink of choice!

What are antioxidants and what do they do?

Antioxidants help to fight the oxidative stress that occurs in our bodies. Oxidative stress is caused by lack of sleep, stress, and exercise. Oxidative stress leads to free radicals in the body, which damage our cells. Damaged cells can lead to illness, disease, and injury.
The only way to fight these free radicals is by consuming more antioxidants.

These antioxidants need to come from whole, fresh, fruits and veggies. Aim to eat 9-13 servings each day. Taking
Juice Plus+ is a great way to bridge this gap and protect our cells every day.
It is like an insurance policy for your health.

Why does soreness occur, and how long will it last?

The reason that your body is sore after doing a new workout, is that the muscle fibers are changing and growing. Soreness is not a bad thing, but a sign that you are changing and improving parts of your body.

P31 Fitness does not have a “No Pain, No Gain” philosophy, however, in order to change and improve your body, you need to challenge it in new ways, which will often lead to sore muscles.

For soreness, the best thing to do is to do a low intensity exercise in the evenings, or on your non-P31 class days. Activities such as walking, swimming, or yoga will help to relieve soreness in the muscles. Stretch often, ice and keep the muscles moving.

How can I spot train and get rid of extra weight in certain places?

Spot training does not work. Weight is only lost when more calories are expended than those taken in through food consumption. Doing millions of sit-ups will not allow a flat stomach. Lifestyle health means finding a balance between exercise and eating. Balancing your intake/output equation.

What does my body fat percentage and my BMI represent?

These two measurements can determine your health and risk of disease, more than scale weight. Use the "Body Tracker" in the Documents section to monitor your progress. We do quarterly evaluations where you can see your measurements and Body Fat %. Use these as a guide to see what improvements you are making.

The most accurate measure of fitness and health is your Body Fat %. Body Fat % is simply the % of your weight that is fat tissue and represents your lean body mass in relation to your fat body mass. Lean body mass is your bones, muscles, water, blood, etc. We want to increase lean body mass through weight training and muscle building. BMI is your body mass index is mostly calculated using your weight and height. This measurement is not completely accurate, as it doesn't take into account your muscle mass and body type. As this happens, the Body Fat % and BMI will both be reduced. These can be tested using different measuring devices.

How many days a week should a exercise and what types of exercise should I do on non-P31 days?

You should try to do some kind of physical activity 5 days of the week. Use the "Workout Tracker" in the Documents section. Be sure to take one or two days completely off each week to let your body and muscles rest and recover. Doing some form of flexibility and light exercise on days off will help you maintain the muscle and fitness progress you previously made through P31 sessions.

Hopefully you will have gained a new base of knowledge for working out and exercise. Mix up your routine. There is no right or wrong way of fitness. It is simply the one that challenges your body and gets you moving. Just don’t’ get bored with your routine. Set yourself up on some circuits and cardio challenges…be creative!
